Encountering issues with QuickBooks or QuickBooks POS due to an Application with a revoked certificate? Our IT experts are here to help. Here’s a quick guide on how to try fixing the issue yourself:
Check for Updates
Double check that you’re using the latest software version. Developers often release updates to address certificate issues. We recommend that you visit the Intuit website and download the latest QuickBooks version available for your licensing.
Backup Your QuickBooks Data
Safety first and foremost. Prior to tackling QuickBooks errors or implementing substantial changes, it’s important to safeguard your data. We strongly recommend creating backups, preferably stored in the secure cloud environment for optimal protection.
Manual Certificate Update
An update not solving the issue? Replacing the revoked certificate manually may be needed. If you have an application with a revoked certificate you can try to remove the certificate with Microsoft’s signtool.exe. Download the required files from the Microsoft website and run the following command on your broken program files:
signtool remove /s C:\path\to.exe
Try Re-Installing QuickBooks
If all else fails, try re-installing your QuickBooks program. Firstly, you will need to completely remove the current installation. Be sure to back up any data before you begin. After you have removed the current installation, use the signtool to verify any existing signatures on your installer. Then, install the program using your verified installer.
